well, first of all. Happy 26th birthday Ruki!!! I’s going to draw him a card too and fanmail it to him ahaha. Technically though, it’s already passed because the 1st was yesterday in Japan xD (mm..I did fanmail a message to him at that time though lol oh wells, he’ll get 2 from me ahaha). *glomps Ruki*
 
So, happy happy news. I applied for an exchange trip to Japan with the college side of my program and got in yayyy~~~ So happy, so a Japanese student will be staying at my house for 2 weeks in March and I’ll be going to Japan for 2 weeks in May 8D lol I’m excited already teehee~ I’m so glad that my parents are letting me do this too, though honestly speaking, I’m excited and nervous because I’ve never traveled anywhere outside North America before (yes I suck) and I’ve never gone anywhere without my parents. So..ya, and a trip to Japan…that was going to be my grad trip lol. Course I’m still going when I graduate because that time will be with my friends n____n
 
I got some of my mid-term and 1st semester marks this week, and so far I have to say I’m doing better than I thought I was. Really, I thought I’d fail…everything x___x:
Visual Language - B
Typography I - B (I was seriously shocked to see that because I didn’t do that good on I think half of my projects x__x)
Critical Issues In Design - B (shocked with this too because I did terribly on my mid-term exam)
Japanese - A (as expected aha~ I’m a little mad though that I have an average of 89.7 for quizzes/tests. gahh why can’t it just be a 90!? Dx that’s one thing I hate about university marking. They can take off really odd marks. like 0.1-0.9 Dx)
Electronic Lansdcape - don’t know yet, it’ll probably be a B+
Arts and Ideas - probably a C or C+ I hate that class with a burning passion because I don’t understand squat in that class =___=

B’s are good in university because C’s and C+’s are normal xD so I’m happy to see what I got. As for Arts and Ideas, I’ll just be happy to pass. I know that I won’t be able to keep my scholarship because of that class, and I hate how it’s a manditory class for all Fine-Arts students. Seriously I haven’t learned a single thing that related to my subject area (the closest was stuff on digital and hybrid art, but that was only ONE class =__=), they cover more or less all the other Fine-Arts subjects, Visual Art for sure, music, drama, theatre, cultural studies, film but NO DESIGN! why the hell do I have to take something I (1)won’t think about in the future and (2)don’t even care about in the first place? Dx arghh [RANT RANT]
 
anyhooo, I just saw a minute ago that Nao posted this video and picture of a humping dog USB key he bought ahahaha. I’m going to go comment on it now because it amuses me and its totally distracting my thoughts from anything else I want to blog about xD (lol it reminds me of Humphrey the Humping Chihuahua xDDD I’ll tell Nao-san about it lol)
 
oh I’m making Gazette buttons this week too because I’ve discovered that the student design association at my school has a button making machine and is taking in orders so I’m going to make buttons weeee. I hope they turn out good, I’ll show them when I finish them :333

[LE RANTAGE]zomg! it’s official now. I ABSOLUTELY HATE HATE HATE *insert swearing* Arts and ideas! with a HUUUUUGGGEEE BURNING PASSION. I mean I said that in my last post, but seriously now it’s even worse. I seriously don’t get why the hell every first-year Fine Arts has to take this damn stupid pointless course. It’s so damn retarded. I admit at the beginning of the year I had a little bit of an interest in it because I thought we’d have some interesting discussions. But noooo, my TA sucks. no offense (causes just a student like the rest of us), but you’d think that after a semester of teaching our Tutorial you’d get the idea that making everyone sit in a circle and asking “so, what did you guys think of the lecture today?” DOESN’T WORK!! Why because no one in that lecture understands what the hell we’re learning! That plus I can’t see one relation between any of the lectures and the readings I do every single week (and I’m one of those people who actually care and do the readings Dx).
 
Honestly, i’ve just completely lost interest and hope for that class. It’s boring, it’s stupid, I can’t make any connections to my major. why the hell would I care about the historical aesthetics of how music was a so called “rebellious form of art”? or how feministic art tried to go against the stereotype of the housewife in its time? HOW DOES IT RELATE TO DESIGN DAMN IT!? Art history about different periods of art is one thing, but controversal art theory that I don’t care about is just stupid. At this point I do not pay the school to teach me useless things =_____= ugh, I hate that class, I’m so annoyed with my reading right now. I would be less annoyed if I could understand something out of everything I’ve read so that I could apply it to the lecture material and then apply it to my assignments because so far, I’ve just managed to bullshit my way through everything (including my midterm, which I was happy to pass with a C+). I’ll be happy just to get a C+ at the end of the year.
 
GAHHH, so pissed, I need food, or sugar (I’m probably pms-ing right now too which is why I feel pissed Dx) but no really, why am I paying the university to teach me squat? and my tuition is expensive around $7000. <-the price tells you that the program is good from the amount of money they ask for. I don’t think even the Ontario College of Art and Design makes you pay that much overall Dx. gahh I should get everyone in first-year Design to sign a petition demanding that we don’t have to take Arts and Ideas (hey it worked when we did it to get our essay deadline extended >3). Anyways, I’m going to eat something and then finish reading the 28.5 accursed pages left for this week =___= I have to write a summary for this week’s readings too good thing it only needs to be 2-3 paragraphs. Seriously other than this class on it’s own my first-year had been great. I just hate Arts and Ideas
 
it’s a retarded class, there was never a manditory fine arts class 10 years ago. Which stupid idiot proposed to change it? We should all kill them or haunt them with freaky art pictures. =___=

err…really, I hope I didn’t scare you guys about college being freakishly hard or anything in my last post. ahaha~ ~u~;;; really I was just angry, and well pms-ing plus my incredible dislike of that class gets you….that xD But I’m sure you guys have gone through it in high school with a class where you don’t understand things and wonder when and how you’ll ever use the information you learn there. (if you’ve never gone through that I consider you to be incredibly lucky x3 *envies you*). Mmm…but then again I admit it’s not as big of a deal in high school since you more or less do every subject xD Thing is with college/university you are actually paying for your education (well, unless you went to a private school before ahaha~) and when you’re not learning anything in a particular class in university and are paying a tuition of $7000 a year…one would wonder why that class exists no?
But really college is awesome with the amount of freedom you get to play around with….everything ahahaha. I can’t wait to start choosing my courses and making up my timetable for next year n____n Oh, and don’t worry about the major thing. First year generally is your test year to see if you like what you got into, if you don’t like the major you started with you can always change. though if you do that it’s best that you only do it once between first and second year, after that em…it’s not a good idea too unless you have the money to pay for it ^^;; I dunno if it exists in US colleges but some schools in Canada allow you to enter on an undecided major where you take whatever and then choose your major after your first year. it does sound good in some way, but you would have to note that after that one year you do have to essentially repeat your first year because you haven’t completed the first year of your major. So some advice is, “CHOOSE WISELY” I say limit it to 1 or 2 fields/things you might like to do for the future/rest of your life xD;; and do what you like to do and what you think you’ll do well in :3 sometimes you’d be surprised to see how your thoughts change over time hahaha (*ahem*like I think I’ve said before, I swear I never thought I’d end up doing Design instead of Life Sciences ohoho)
 
Anyway, that aside, this week is Reading Week for my university (for some odd reason ours is a week earlier than all the other universities. Probably because we started our term a week earlier lol). and because of the new “Family Day” holiday this year my reading week is actually a day longer yayyy. Oh and Reading Week is basically the equivalent of a Spring Break/March Break/2nd Mid-term break, cept in college you should be using that week to catch up on work for school (which I have to do). Since our semester is shorter than a high school semester Reading Week is in February as opposed to March (because March is the last month of classes before year end exams in April). So this week I plan to actually work, and try to get as much work done for any long term projects that are due in March because I’m seriously just doing way too much stuff in March xD.
As of now I’ve got a quiz every week in March for Japanese, 3 projects due in total for my Design studio classes, probably a web project due for my Web Art class and a group project for my Arts and Ideas class (which I want finished by the beginning of March latest). On top of that I have to start looking for a summer job, volunteering at a conference again, and having a Japanese exchange student staying at my house for 2 weeks. WoOT I have no idea how I’m going to handle all this but….I hope I can get through it all n___n;;
On top of all that I still have piano lessons, and I’m a little worried about that now because I checked the exam date that the Conservatory gave me and saw that my exam is scheduled for the 10th of June Oo;; now I don’t mind too much generally except that I’m worried that I won’t practice enough for it since I’m gone for 2 weeks in May for the exchange trip (so missing 2 lessons there and 2 weeks of practice) and then missing a weekend of practice after I come back because I’m going to Anime North again. Now the only plus to that is that I do have 2 weeks after that before my exam to practice but then…argh maybe I just need more confidence >___<;;; I want to and need to get a good mark on this exam to pass. I want to continue ARCT (Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music) diploma but then I feel like (1) I’m in over my head and (2) my parents aren’t going to let me T_____T;;; cause I kinda half promised that I’d stop after I finished my grade 10 exam. but seriously that’s going to be so hard for me because piano’s kinda been there since I was a kid and I always liked it and it’s soooooo good for stress =u= *sigh* I wish I had some money so I could pay for lessons on my own =o=;;; Either way I gotta talk to my teacher about it. >.>;

I swear I am so dead for March when it comes.
Behold, the current things I have deal with in March including a retreat, conference, exchange student and all known projects, tests and quizzes. and I can tell you right now that’s not even all of it. Somewhere there I have my final assignment due for my web class and my final project due for my Interactivity Design class. All in all, I can understand why our program head said “DON’T TAKE MORE THAN 2 STUDIO COURSES” eegad, I would’ve died if I did that D: and it’s a good thing I dropped the lecture course I originally had on Monday this term (I can’t stand the thought of having to write another essay x__x). and yes people when your college recommends that you not do something “LISTEN TO THEM IT’S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD”
 
btw, I made this calender on the iCal program on my Mac which is proving to be useful cause I absolutely hate being disorganized. I admit I am unorganized to a certain extent, but I can’t be disorganized it just annoys me >___< Everything blue is a quiz/test. red is a project/assignment due date. orange are busy even days where I’m just completely doing something unrelated to school(also includes holidays) and green is other events (may be school related or not) Oh boy I hope I can survive March x___x
 
On a positive note Guren is out. or…has been out for hours now xDDD I envy those people on LJ who somehow ended up getting theirs early x33. Sidenote while I’m talking about Gazette and LJ. You should all check out the latest Arena37 scans and look at the candid’s for their latest photoshoot. Oh and be sure to check out Ruki’s version of Japan xDDDD *drops dead laughing*

Well, I was pretty sleepy today so I actually went and took a nap. Mm…that was nice.
It was really really cold today despite there being no snow. Which is pretty normal because sometimes we just get those really cold days where if you were to look outside the window, it’s all sunny and looks warm. BUT, as soon as you step out there you feel like you just walked into the North Pole. and for record-sake, we are not the North Pole children D: seriously there are still some people out there who think Canada = North Pole = people living in igloos and driving around in dogsleds and snowmobiles. (and I can tell you that I’ve never seen a real igloo >>;; )
Anyhow, I drew a really lazy card for Aoi and fanmailed it to him ahaha I’ve just added to the pile ^^;;; Seriously I was so lazy in drawing Aoi because, I just suck at drawing anything human Dx lol he ended up looking kinda like a plushie, but I guess it’s kinda cute xD (You can find the card on my Japanese blog and on my DeviantArt)
 
JRock Choice Awards! Well, Gazette won nothing industry speaking, but they got pretty much…everything in terms of the Fan Choice awards. I know from the JRR forums, there are quite a few who were mad/disappointed by that. In some sense, I feel for them cause I’d be pretty disappointed to see my favourite band not win. But fan’s choice is fan’s choice, and they won fair and square.

I was really happy to see Alice Nine win best dressed lol really, for that one I’d say it would’ve been a close one between alice nine and An Cafe (cute vs. sexy ne? xDDD). But yep, I’m satisfied with the results n_____n
And good news this week, I heard that Tora got better after resting and started going back on tour yesterday (hope he doesn’t overwork himself again D: ).

new computer!

weee!!! I got my beautiful mac this week! It’s shiny, and it makes my computer room smell like my design lab xDD (lol the smell of technology ahahaha). My dad bought the monitor ages before too, It’s huge, and the buttons on it are touch-sensored (so to turn it on I just tap the little symbol on it.) I couldn’t find any new good GazettE or Reita pictures I could use for a sexy wallpaper so I made an alice nine wall (with Nao x333). My desk is so unbelievably messy aharharharhar. it’s a good thing I don’t have to do as much cutting this term. But I’ll clean it….eventually lol. I already *cough*crcked*cough* all the stuff I needed for school (adobe cs3). And, zomg it downloads stuff so fast *____* I love it (ahaha, that’s what I get for a $4000 computer xD;;; ). I can download 100mb in like 5-7mins (provided that no one’s using the internet on the other computer across from mine and my processor doesn’t kill my internet ahaha). But yes it’s cool.
 
Oh, what I found even cooler was that my mac can play Region 2 dvd’s. I was a little bored on Thursday so I decided to test out the dvd drive on the mac with alice nine’s Alpha dvd. and *ding* put it in and it played great! *is very happy that she can now play all the jrock dvds she bought and will buy in the future xD* I’s happy. The only thing I wasn’t so thrilled about was the fact that mac has issues with a lot of unsupported media files. like with my pc, all I had to do was download the CCP -Community Codec Pack- and everything would play on either Windows Media Player or DivX. but with my mac, that’s not the case, so I have to download like 3 players for stuff >>;; plus I have no Veoh tv. so I have to manually go to the veoh.com site to click download there. oh and Windows Media Player for mac is retarded. It was programmed to play only windows media stuff and nothing else. (not even mp3’s) WTH! why would you do that when the original WMP plays everything!? so now I have to use the iTunes to listen to my music on the computer.
 
Yep..but other than that, I love my new mac x333 and now I sleep (zomg, it’s 3:45am *will probably be scolded in the morning*)
