The past few weeks have been pretty productive for me and school, thought despite that I don’t think I’ve been getting any more sleep than I normally would xDD That plus whenever I can I try to get up as early as possible to go practice my piano repertoire school (cause I don’t want to wake up my mom at like 9:30am xDD;;; ). I have to say my Classical Piano course takes quite a bit of time to practice, it’s pretty demanding and some of the stuff is fairly hard, plus I have a relatively small hand so anything with octaves is like…..”blargh hand cramp!” after like a 3-hour practice xD;;; But you know, I missed it, the lessons, the practicing, being able to play and hear songs that are beautiful, the motivation that comes from it and the fact that it’s incredibly relaxing ^^ Having quit private/formal lessons for almost 2 years, it was always hard to find time and motivation to play (other than to test out my transcriptions and the random urges to play lol), that and every so often I’d feel pretty stiff in my hands from not practicing everyday. I still get that even now thought because I can’t practice everyday xD;;;;

So recently I’ve been researching web hosts to move to (heh, I wonder if I should be posting about this here lol). I’ve been with Servage for a little over 3 years now. For the first year my experience with them was very good to say the least and was still good up until a little over a year after when my domain was hacked and my gmail was hacked and I had to go through the grueling process of trying to get my domain access back D: Even after than I still stayed with Servage because well (1) that incident could have been either or at fault (either my gmail was hacked first then my domain, or my domain was hacked first then my gmail…but anyway) and (2) at that time I had no other way of paying hosts other than cash. The year after now (last year, ’08) I might have been hacked again (or there was a leftover hole from the previous hack) cause Servage all of a sudden e-mails me saying there’s phishing scams on my account and then all of a sudden decides to suspend my account, shuts down my site AND denies me access to my own Admin CP before even letting me try to fix the problem D: Still for the same reasons I stuck with them cause….ya…you know. Good thing is though my site is pretty much never down (unless I’m wrong and it’s just me O____O), but for sure, I can find a host that’ll charge me less than $8.10/month on a 14 month contract (that and a host that won’t try to pin the blame on me every time something weird happens to my account D: ).

BUT! This year (and I still wonder why I didn’t do it at the beginning of ’09) I’m planning on switching to another host and transferring my domain name to GoDaddy for safekeeping in the case that I decide to switch hosts again. My account here on Servage is expiring this coming March so I have until then to move. Right now I’ve narrowed myself down to about 2 hosts:

Bluehost – It’s top-listed on WordPress.org so that says something, one of my friends also has a domain hosted there and a random person also recommended it to me on Twitter LOL

Downtown Host – It’s well priced, I remember a while back I knew someone that had a site hosted by them but now I don’t remember who xD;;; Their cheapest plan is cheaper than Bluehost…..but then the catch to that is that you have to sign for a 2 year contract. And to be honest if bad things happen within a year I don’t want to be stuck with them for that much longer unless I have no choice (which I do have a choice now so…ya…) But anyway, it’s a good choice too imo (from reviews I’ve read).

In addition to moving to a new host, I’m also planning to buy another domain name that will be solely dedicated to my design work. So my portfolio will be there and I’ll be starting a design blog (that you guys can follow too if you want :3) to blog about work that I’m doing or any other interesting design-related things I see or am in.

That said, I’m not really sure if I should move my current domain name to GoDaddy AND buy my new domain with them or if I go with Bluehost, just register it with them (cause it comes with a free domain name registration), btw having both domain names under GoDaddy will cost me about $20/year (obviously having 1 will cost me half the price). Mmm…ya…I’m not sure, I have to look into some more now xD;;;; (any suggestions?^^;;; )

btw, if anyone wants to comment with hosting recommendations/reviews please do <3
I’m really just looking for regular hosting (no dedicated or anything like that) with a really good customer support/reliability, 99%+ uptime, good security, decent space and well worth their price.

So this week is my fall reading week. Apparently what happened was that our school took off all the Jewish holidays and gave us a 2nd reading week in the fall semester instead (normally we only have one reading week in the winter semester btw). I’m actually doing work this week though because I want to get stuff done for my projects x3.

School’s been well….up and down ahahaha. btw, since I haven’t posted in a while. I’ll tell you that I got kicked out of my Piano for Non-Majors class and am now doing a 3rd year Classical Piano Performance class instead. Yes. that’s right children. I was kicked out mmmhmm. What an even that was. I won’t linger on it since it’s past so there :p

Aside from that class, I’m really having a lot of fun in my Time-Based class playing with videos. still photos and whatnot. Despite the fact that my knowledge of it at this point is really REALLY basic, it’s still fun when you have a nice concept in mind and are able to execute it. ^____^ I can’t wait till we start playing with AfterEffects for our next projects. Which, I promise I’ll show you all because the project I’m working on is a 10-second academy leader (a.k.a. those 10-second countdown thingys people see before movies, shows start etc.). Heh, I hope my prof. likes my idea =u=

OH, that reminds me.
A dilemma!!! Before our reading week we were supposed to get our copy of Adobe CS4 Master Suite that was included with tuition this year. BUT due to an unfortunate delay that was out of the college hands, we won’t be getting them till after reading week T________T
Seriously I was incredibly sad and upset last Thursday because of that cause….I was really looking forward to have CS4 this week to play with it and stuff. That and the fact that I would no longer have to down-save all my files that I work on in school for CS3 (Cause all the lab computers have CS4 D: ). We better be getting them the week we come back D<

Aside from my usual school life, I’ve been sick for the past few days. With what started as a sore/dry throat turned into a cough, turned into a cough and half-cold and now umm….I think most of it has past. I still have a tiny bit of a cough but that’s about it. So ya….good thing I got it at the beginning of my reading week cause I hate being in school sick. I can’t focus D: And I’ve been going to work sick and it sucks cause I feel bad for people coming up to me there and I’m coughing up my lungs every so often Dx Seems like the few days I went for work this past weekend everyone was getting sick O____o;;;

I’m feeling much better now though

Since I normally blog…..in the middle of the night, after work etc. I thought I’d blog in the day for once (ahahaha). btw, the song I’m listening to right now *points* is very addicting. Look it up when you get a chance to :3 I’ve lost my touch with J-pop but on some occasions I do like a few songs. Course nothing overides the j-rock on my computer xD;;;; Anyway…

Summer’s almost over! fufufufu. Terrible isn’t it? I know it is. aha. So….I’ve

-Finished portfolio site - just need to add the works and put it up and it’s done. Right now all the design and coding is done. I just totally gave up on the flash version so it’s just html/css/php. I think I’ll work on the flash version after I do some more interactive stuff this year for school. (AfterEffects this year! woOt!)

-Without a Trace – almost done! Just 1:30-ish left to transcribe and then a few touchups left <- I should be posting this on the project site too I guess ne?

-Piano Tuning – working on it ehehe….

O.k. so I’m not a total failure this summer right? ^^

On a more school note (yeah, when I get back to school that’s all you’re going to hear me complain about har~~no j/k). Tuition kills. This year it’s $8,005 x_____x BUT! The “incentive” this year with our program is that they’re including a “free” copy of Adobe CS4 Master Collection for everyone. Plus, we’ll be entitled to all the upgrades every year until we graduate AND the copy doesn’t expire after we graduate, so the last update we graduate with is the one we keep. Now I say free because it’s not totally free is the fee of something like $190 is waived into our tuition. I personally don’t mind, but I still wish they could add some more incentives for us to make up for such an expensive tuition x_____x;;; Like……free colour printing! (only in my dreams TTuTT) Oh well, at least I don’t have to rely on the *coughhack*cracked*cough* version of CS3 I have anymore ahahaha.

Since it’s August now I kinda feel like….writing a post just about what’s been up recently…..which isn’t much ahahahahaha (phail).

So I’ve got a little less than a month left before I’m back in school, what have I accomplished so far out of the stuff I wanted to do? Umm…not much yet but I’m still working on it.

Not just out of self-interest, and the fact that every so often I feel really stiff in my hands because well….I don’t play everyday anymore. But I still need it tuned since I will be taking a piano course for school this year (heh, this will be interesting…..) The sound of my piano kinda annoys me now too just because I can hear that it’s…..REALLY out of tune this time (my teacher would be crying if I ever told her I didn’t tune my piano every year ehehe…..). I swear the pianos at school are…..more in-tune than mine o____o;;;;

-Finish translating Nao article from Shoxx
-ya……that’s like…..half-done. Some of the kanji is…..killing me.

Aside from that, funny story about what happened Saturday night…
So, last week I re-started reading Ayashi no Ceres (Ceres, Celestial Legend). I started reading Ceres back at the beginning of high school (borrowed the first English volume from my friend), but I never read anymore of it after that volume (this was before I discovered manga online btw ahaha). Yes, so I randomly felt like reading it and….somehow in a few days I got up to the last….20 chapters or so Saturday night. So when I came home from work (which was like…..12:30am ohoho~~~) I started reading and…..somehow…..when I finished all the chapters (i.e. the whole series) I looked at the clock on my computer and went “hoshit! it’s 5:03am!?” (heh, go figure right?). Ya, epic phail, I almost pulled an all-nighter reading manga. It was an accident though I SWEAR!!! ehehe….. I have no life xDDD;;;; I had to wake up early for church and was also going out with people for the rest of the day on the Sunday after too ahaha……I was out until 12:30am again Sunday night (and I had work today in the morning). I sucessfully passed out in bed at like….1:30am when I got home after taking a shower and all because it’s been soooooo hot and humid lately.

I hate humidity D: It makes me feel really nasty Dx

Anyway, It’s 3am now so I’ll shut up and go to sleep before….I dunno, I end up blogging until 5am or something ahahahaha. Unlikely but you never know (it might happen someday knowing me har~~~).

So I’ve handed in my last project this past Monday for my summer course and considering myself officially done school for the year woOt! Now my real summer can start x3 lol

Last weekend I went to see Harry Potter 6 with my friend and a few other people for her birthday. [BEWARE SPOILERS]

So I have to say umm….it was as great as I thought, but then I went in not expecting a lot so I wasn’t too incredibly disappointed. I mean since when has a movie based on a book ever been better than it’s book? Never. Well, in my case anyway. I have to say though, the movie seemed way way way too focused on the relationships of different characters like Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione etc. it was like “ooookay~~~we get it already =.=” like the 50 millionth time I saw stuff like that in the movie I honestly started getting annoyed. I found that J.K. Rowling was always very subtle with writing about the relationships between the characters in a way that makes you say “hey~~ hint hint *wink wink nudge nudge* check this out” in the movie it was just overdone. Next part that was disappointing came near the end of the movie during the parts where Dumbledore was about to be killed. I was…well, expecting an epic battle and dramatic scene there and after and…ya that didn’t happen, it was so short to, it’s like….Dumbledore died in 5 seconds whereas when I was reading the book it felt like that whole scene would take up like 30 minutes. That and I was thoroughly sad for a while after finishing the book. T___T

A lot of stuff in this movie also wasn’t explained, mostly in the end and some in the middle, like how Harry would go on to find the next Horcrux or what the “Half-Blood Prince” meant (that part only assumes that you’ve read the book before watching this movie). I was really sad that they didn’t go into Snape’s past because I really liked that part in the book and it really connects to Snape in the next book too.

O.k. though aside from that, by itself. It was a decent movie. As a part of the Harry Potter series. It honestly sucked.

I looked at my watch once during the movie too. And when I look at my watch for the time, that means something’s not interesting enough to catch my attention and distract me away from thinking about the time. >>;;; [/END SPOILERS]

Ah well, like I said, no movie is better than the book it’s based on.

Anyhoos, I’m off to bed now since I have to wake up early tomorrow. Going to Wonderland with work peoplez woOt. I’m totally going to crash tomorrow night from exhaustion lol xD;;;;;
